Lateral Transfer Sheet
Model #4700
The Lateral Transfer Sheet is comprised of two panels of fabric, one slippery nylon panel centred and sewn on a larger cotton/polyester panel. When positioned correctly, the panel should be face down on the mattress with the sides of the sheet tucked in. An incontinent pad should be placed under the client as needed. When the client needs to be transferred to a stretcher or repositioned in bed, simply untuck, grasp and pull the sides to slide the client to the desired location, being careful to follow your institution's transferring/repositioning procedures.
The Lateral Transfer Sheet is designed to reduce the friction created by the client's weight on the hospital bed by providing a slippery nylon surface as a vehicle for transferring or repositioning. This helps the caregiver to move the client with ease. When a bottom bed sheet and an incontinent pad are used in conjunction with the Lateral Transfer Sheet, there is a reduced amount of laundry bulk because it provides an additional barrier between the incontinent pad and bed sheet, helping to keep bed linens clean. When used in this manner, the benefits include: fewer laundry hours, less detergent and water used, resulting in reduced negative environmental impact and money saved.
The Lateral Transfer Sheet is also an effective way to reduce back, shoulder, neck and arm-related injuries due to moving clients using improper transferring techniques.
The Lateral Transfer Sheet is a great addition to any home or institutional setting.
