Reduces client anxiety by giving a comfortable, safe feeling.
Evenly distributes weight to both caregivers when transferring a client
Can be used in situations where wheelchair access is either limited or not available
Evacuation Sling Instructions
The purpose of the Evacuation Sling is to quickly and safely transfer clients in an emergency situation.
There are three sets of handles and a quick-attach/release safety belt on the Sunnyfield Evacuation Sling.
To place the Evacuation Sling, the client must be in a lying position. First, roll the client onto their side and place the Evacuation Sling flat with handles down. Gently roll the client back to lying position on top of the Evacuation Sling, secure and cinch the safety belt under the arms around the chest. Then bring the client to a sitting posture. Caregivers must position themselves on each side of the client, facing the client and each other. Each caregiver then grasps one handle at the shoulder blade and one handle at the knee. Now, being careful to follow your institution’s lifting procedures, you are ready to lift and evacuate.
